Privacy

We built this to hold as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts, no logins, no tracking cookies and no adverts. A prayer timetable does not need to know who you are.

What this site stores on your device

One thing: if you switch between the light and dark theme, that choice is saved in your browser so the site remembers it next time. It never leaves your device and we cannot see it. Clear your browser data and it’s gone.

Add the site to your home screen and your browser keeps a copy of the timetable so it works with no signal. That copy sits on your phone. We never see it.

Nothing here talks to anyone else

Every page loads from this site and nowhere else. No fonts from Google, no scripts from a content network, no embedded posts, no trackers. The site is not permitted to fetch anything from another server — that is set in its security headers, not just promised here — so opening a page tells no third party anything.

Analytics

None. This site measures nothing about you and sets no cookies, which is why you have not been asked to accept any. If the committee ever adds analytics it will be a cookieless kind that cannot identify you or follow you between sites, and this page will say so before it goes live.

When you message us

We read Instagram DMs on Instagram, under Instagram’s rules rather than ours. We keep a message only as long as it takes to answer it, and we add nobody to anything they did not ask to be added to.

The group chat form

Asking to join the group chat means filling in a Google Form, and that form is the one place this site sends personal information anywhere. What you type goes to Google, on their systems and under their privacy policy, and to the committee members who run the chat. We use it to check you study at Salford before adding you, we delete the responses once you are in, and we use them for nothing else.

If you subscribe to the calendar

Subscribing to the Jumu’ah calendar means your phone quietly re-downloads one file from this site every few hours. That is a request like any other page view: the host it sits on can see it happened, the same way it can see any visit. The file itself is identical for everybody and contains nothing about you.

Things that aren’t us

Membership, tickets and room bookings run through the Students’ Union, on their systems and under their privacy policy. Instagram, TikTok and the group chat platform are theirs too. When you leave this site for one of those, their rules apply, not ours.

Photographs

We publish a photo only with the consent of the people in it, and we publish no photographs of sisters’ events at all. If a photo of you is here and you’d rather it wasn’t, tell us and it comes down. You do not owe us an explanation and we will not ask for one.

Your rights, and who to ask

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To do any of that, message us at @isoc.salford on Instagram. If we get it wrong you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
